Self-talk is a kind of inner speech, which has function of moderating behaviors andemotions. There are only a few empirical studies of self-talk, and self-talk interventionstudies are scare in China. The research select300undergraduates which were examinedaimed to explore the status of undergraduates self-talk and the relationship betweenself-talk and self-esteem.12undergraduates were recruited for the group counseling, andtry to find a way to improve undergraduates self-talk. The research finally prove that theundergraduates self-talk has no obvious difference among sex and grade; theundergraduates self-talk has distinct difference between four dimensions of self-talk, thescore of self reinforcement was the lowest,and the next lower was social assessment,andthe scores of self criticism and self management were the highest; undergraduates self-talkhas no obvious relationship with self-esteem; group counseling can improveundergraduates self-talk, the experiment group undergraduates self-talk has been improved.
