There are a series of great changes that have occurred in social, economic, cultural andtechnological areas since1980s. The global issues, such as, population, environment andresources have a significant impact on the geographical curriculum content. This requires thatwe comply with the requirements of the times, focus on the innovation of knowledge, standon the frontier, update teaching content and improve teaching methods. Since1980s, countriesover the world are beginning to push forward geography curriculum reformation. The statusof the geography in school education is significantly improved. The contents of geographycurriculum also change according to the requirements of the times. Changes on contents ofdifferent countries show certain trends and specific features. China is also in this period, andthe contents of geography curriculum also need to be reformed. In this paper, I analyze thesituations of several selected countries. I gain the main development trend and features aftersummarizing the curriculum reformations and content changes of each country. I find thatthere are shortages in the composition and presentation of our geography curriculum contents,and give advices on it.This paper is divided into four parts: First, introduction; Second, the evolution of foreigngeographical curriculum contents domestic and Overseas; the last, conclusion and discussionThe introduction section mainly describes research background and significance of thisessay, definitions of key concepts, current research situations, main research contents, andestablishes the research methods and technological roadmap.The second part introduces geography curriculum reformation process of five countries,including America, Britain, Japan, Russia and China. It pays much attention on analyzing thechanges and features of geography curriculum contents in the past30years. When analyzingthe course contents, choosing points are slightly different. It summarizes the features mainlyby analyzing the content construction of national curriculum standards, slightly by comparinggeography textbooks.The last part makes a summary of the above. It states suggestions and inspirations forChina. It discusses shortcomings of this paper, and looks far ahead of future researches.
