People have paid more and more attention to environmental protection for resources andecological environment problems are becoming increasing serious. With the wide acceptanceof the conception of sustainable development and recycling economic principle , the tide ofgreen consumption and green production has rolled up all over the world and quicklyspreaded to the field of supply chain management. Purchasing activities, beginning of thewhole production process, plays an important role in modern supply chain management.Green purchasing which takes environmental factors into consideration and combines currenteconomic growth with the need of long-term social development can not only meet thedemand of green products but also improve the quality of products and enhance the enterprisecompetitiveness. Therefore, more and more experts and scholars began to select greenpurchasing as an important subject for research. Our country is the traditional textile and clothing export power and textile and garmentindustry has always played an essential part in the development of national economy. As aless-put, large-output as well as labor intensive industry, textile and garment industry not onlyenjoys a good ecnomic benefit, but also has made great contributions to ease the seriousemployment problems in our country. However, it is also a high pollution industry. It rankedfouth in the position of national emissions of all kinds of industrial wastes which deterioratesecological environment and sustainable development of economy and affects the internationalcompetitivness of China’s textile and garment industry to some extent. Especially since thebeginning of this century along with the environmental movement, Europe, America andother developed countries and regions have formulated various strict environmental standardsand law and regulations. As a result, a series of green trade barriers which bring seriouschallenges to the export of out textile and clothing has been formed. It is possible to makesure the healthy development of our textile and garment industry only if when we carry outgreen purchasing and select green resources which ensures every step of manufacture is fromthe aspect of resource save, environment optimization and pursuit of harmouniousdevelopment of human and nature.Although it is widely accepted that green purchasing has improved the ecologicalenvironment effectively, there are still many people worry that green purchasing will increase purchasing cost and have a doubt in the efforts that green purchasing made to promoteenterprise economic performance. Therefore, research on the relationship between greenpurchasing and enterprise performance in China textile and garment industry was carried outin this paper in hope of giving useful advice on realising the harmonious development ofeconomic and environment in our textile and garment industy. There are two parts in the research:First, the paper put forward the idea that it is necessary to analyse enterpriseperformance from aspects of financial performance and environmental performance basingon literature review and develope the two dimensions of enterprise performance scale. Then, differentiation analysis, correlation analysis, reliability analysis, exploratory analysis andcomfirmatory analysis are taken out for verification.Second, the model of the relationship between green purchasing and enterpriseperformance based on textile and garment industry is constructed through literature summary.By using statistical analysis methods about factor analysis and regression analysis andcombine with the statistical software SPSS17.0, results are founded as follows:(1) Enterprise performance green oriented is constucted by financial performace andenvironmental performance.(2) The four dimensions of green purchasing (supplier management, ecological design,out-environmental management, environmental authentication) are significantly associatedwith the two dimensions of enterprise performance (financial performance, environmentalperformance).
