This paper is based on the regional economic theory, using principal componentanalysis to assess the comprehensive strength of nine cities of the Pearl River Delta,and take Canton as the central city of Pearl River Delta economic zone. The athorelaborated the motivation of economic radiation from the aggregate economy and theeconomies of scale, the new technological revolution, Labor geographical division oflabor and economic globalization. At the same time, with the regional industriallayout and rotation model, through the analysis of product innovation and production,the author revealed economic radiation mechanism of the regional central cities in themicro-level, while analyzed the influencing factors of the regional central cityeconomic effects of radiation in multiple dimensions. According the data processingof macroeconomic indicators, and select the index of GDP and urban primacy index,reflected the conditions of the economic effects of radiation from the macro level ofCanton. With the economic ties based on gravity model, economic relations based onEuclidean distance and Industrial diffusion based on the location quotient, andanalyzed the role of Canton in the Pearl River Delta region. The results show that thedevelopment of the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone lack of coordination whilefaced internal competition. As the regional central city, the function and role ofCanton is weakened, and the gap with the Shenzhen and Foshan is decreasing, whilethe space economic ties strength is generally not high. On the industrial structure,there are many industries overlap between Canton and surrounding cities, and Cantonneed to upgrade the level of the industrial structure, which can form multiple growthpole, and driven the economic development of the Pearl River Delta region.
