Study On Competitiveness And Complementarity Of High-tech Products Trade Between China And Japan

In recent years, high-tech products trade in China and Japan has developed rapidly, the scaleof bilateral trade of the trade between the two countries is also expanding, but there is trade deficitof the trade between China and Japan and it is growing. The study on competitiveness andcomplementarity of high-tech products trade between China and Japan is good for the healthycompetition of high-tech products trade, mining on the development potential of the trade,improving the trade deficit and the healthy development of high-tech products trade between thetwo countries.First of all, this paper summarized the theory and analyzed the present situation of Chineseand Japanese high-tech products trade; the next, using some index of competitiveness such asproducts similarity index and index of complementarity, for instance, trade complementarity index,detailed analyzed the status of competitiveness and complementarity of high-tech products tradebetween China and Japan, and explaining the reason; newly, based on these conclusions and thefacts of the trade, indentified the problem of high-tech products trade between China and Japan andmake some suggestions to promoting the sustained and healthy development of the trade; in theend, make the conclusion of the paper.The main conclusions of this paper are as follow. The overall competitiveness of high-techproducts trade between China and Japan is weak and the competitiveness of detailed classificationof the trade is also weak. While the overall complementarity is strong and is intra-industrycomplementary, the complementarity of the electronic communication equipment between the twocounties is powerful and is bilateral complementary. Generally speaking, the complementarity ofhigh-tech products trade between China and Japan is stronger than the competitiveness of it, thepotential of bilateral trade between the two counties is huge. In the future high-tech products tradebetween China and Japan, to making the trade develop well, China should take actions toenhancing the international competitiveness and complementarity of high-tech products tradebetween China and Japan.
