Study On Pan-Beibu Gulf Sub-Region Economic Cooperation

As the economic globalization and regional economic integration advance, Pan-Beibu Gulf Sub-region Economic Cooperation came forth as a new form of regional cooperation under the framework of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area. It is is the furthering development of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area and the bay of Ring Northern in both theory and practice in the new era. The Pan-Beibu Gulf Sub-region Economic Cooperation area includes countries of China, Vietnam Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Brunei. It is according to the concept of geo-economics and beyond mere geographic demarcation, which extends the bay of Ring Northern to neighboring countries opposite coasts. It also enriches the China-ASEAN cooperation platform, explores more rooms for the bilateral cooperation, and brings about new drives and contents. It composes the the pattern of "one axis, two wings" with Great Mekong Sub-region(GMS) and Nanning-Singapore economy corridor.Based on the foreign and domestic theories of regional economic cooperation, this paper does a system research on Pan-Beibu Gulf Sub-region Economic Cooperation, mainly focusing on some important fields of cooperation, such as trade and investment, traffic facilities, energy, tourism and finance. There are five parts. Part one is introduction. It gives an explanation about the background and the significance of this research. Part two is the theory of sub-regional economic cooperation. It defines the conception of sub-regional economic cooperation, describes its characteristics, types and modes. Part three first defines the Pan-Beibu Gulf Sub-region Economic Cooperation area and explains the advantages and significance of this cooperation. Then it analyzes the current situation of the cooperation, including the progress and the mechanism. Finally the problems existing in the cooperation are listed. Part four is most important. It focuses on the Pan-Beibu Gulf Sub-region Economic Cooperation fields of trade and investment, traffic facilities, energy, tourism and finance by analyzing their current situation and existing problems, then gives solution to the proprems. Finally, the part five gives some suggestions for the development of Pan-Beibu Gulf Sub-region Economic Cooperation from the macroscopical angle.Main contribution of this paper:As an important part of China-ASEAN, Pan-Beibu Gulf Sub-region Economic Cooperation is a new way to cooperate with Asean countries. This paper chooses Pan-Beibu Gulf Sub-region Economic Cooperation as a research subject, has practical significance. Based on the absorption and reference to the exsiting research, using division of labor, layout, and cooperation for guiding theory, this paper expounds the meaning of sub-regional economic cooperation, characteristics, types and modes. And then the paper analyzes the current situation and problems of Pan-Beibu Gulf Sub-region Economic Cooperation from the angle to the overall situation. According to the concrete analysis, thus draws some practical suggestions. The paper uses datas from statistical yearbook as possible, guarantee the authority and the first-hand value, reliability and accuracy. It also tries to ensure the data the newest.Because the reaearch involves many countries and regions, it is difficult to collect datas. So there is still deficiency in the paper, it needs more efforts on the reseatch in future.
