Research On Path Innovation In Regional Development

Innovation is the source of economic development, and regional innovation ability is the most important pillar of regional development ability, regional level innovation comes from the innovation of behavior entities. There is path dependence mechanism in regional development, an accidental event could bring certain development advantage to a location, and then lead to self-reinforcement. Therefore, it is necessary for economic entities keep adaptive learning and take innovative actions in accordance with the changes of external situation, build the development superiority, take use of increasing returns mechanism to promote regional development. This paper discusses regional development from path selection based on path dependent theory and regional innovation theory.This paper defines the meaning of path innovation from the microcosmic mechanism through the evolutionary game theory model, and analyzes the mechanism of path innovation. Then classify the path dependence types in regional development and analyzes the factors which affect path innovation capacity. At last summarized four kinds of path innovation from regional factor endowment、flexibility of production system、mechanism and regional function based on path dependence. These types of path innovation include endowment upgrade、process reengineering、 mechanism breakthrough and function release.
