In the world, land resource is extremely limited, and it’s non-renewable. The land is the material basis for all activities of the people. Because these is a large number of population in China, the land resource is more scarce, on one hand, we need to provide the land for people’s living and basic demand, on the other hand, we need to provide the land for cemetery, this is cemetery demand. Because of the more and more serious of population aging in China, this demand will become more and more stronger.Research of cemetery in China is still in the exploratory stage, there are various problems in the cemetery building, this article will discuss the problem of how to build the cemetery, it will base on the theory of sustainable use of land and intensive land utilization, then explore the pattern of cemetery.it takes Wuhan for example to do an empirical study. This article is divided into five parts,1. Introduction section. Describe question and define the relevant concepts, then describe the current research trends china and abroad and make an evaluation to them, meanwhile state the purposes and significance of this paper.2. Intensive land use theory. Overview the mature land use theory, such as the area of sustainable development theory, the theory is basically a variety of land use which is a significant guide for the cemetery intensive use patterns.3. The cemetery’s use patterns. Mainly refers to the extensive use patterns and intensive use patterns. Introduce various characteristics of these two models, as well as the specific forms.4. The empirical research component. As to the case of Wuhan, describe its current status quo of the cemetery, then summarize the problems of the Wuhan City’s cemetery, predict the future land demand for building cemetery in different modes through the principle of mathematical modeling.
