Predominantly Yongshouxian Old Town Tourism Development Research

Yongshou County which has a long history is located in the hinterland of Shaanxi Province. It was famous for its pivotal role in Shaanxi and Gansu Province, who was an important station in the ancient Silk Road. There are many historic relics in Yongshou County. However, the local historical and cultural resources are not protected and utilized effectively. Because people on the ancient town are so lack of knowledge on protection and development of ancient town or other reasons like economic restrictions and so on that development is insufficient in a long time.Based on the previous studies, combined with the actual situation, I want to explore the historical context and geographical traits of Yongshou County in this paper. According to the analysis of the characteristics of various cultural sights, mining inner cultural connotation, I’ll investigate a model on the general ancient-town’s protective development and utilization.The main contents of this paper are:Chapter I, Changes in the history of Yongshou ancient-town. This chapter introduces the origins of "Yongshou" and its history, interpreting the name comes from the topographic names. Then I’ll make a research on the town-site changes since the Northern Zhou dynasty with the perspective of historical geography study, and analyze the causes of changes preliminary, which including the topographic changes because of hydraulic erosion and the effects of natural disasters, traffic condition change and conflict factors as well as the Guancheng developed more than County, so replaced it, etc..Chapter II, Features of Yongshou ancient-town. The chapter elaborates from three aspects of Yongshou ancient-town. They are the planning characteristics of Yongshou Ruins and traditional dwellings, diverse cultural landscape. According to a complete cognition, we shall form a whole understanding. There are both the traditional design methods, such as geomantic omen and hierarchy etiquette, and its own measures to create out of the ordinary, such as irregular construction and unique gates set. Lowering caves and the" half side cover" houses with very geographical characteristics are traditional Chinese dwellings, which become folk characteristics. More colorful culture landscape is unique, too. A beautiful and unique picture is composed of all of them. Chapter Ⅲ, Protective development and utilization on Yongshou ancient-Town. With an overall understanding on the features in Yongshou County, the research is made on a basis of the theory about the protective development and utilization of the historical and cultural towns and villages. As a guide, the corresponding development measures are put forward. For example, establish appropriate laws and regulations, plan tourism route, and improve public facilities and so on. The last but not the least, the significance about ancient-town’s protective development and utilization in Yongshou County is reiterated.
