Chongqing is the only municipality directly under the central government in the westernof China,integration of big city and big rural,the conditions of location and resourcesenvironment are not good enough, dual structure is significant, and the regional differencesbetween urban and rural areas, the contradiction of the imbalance is more and more serious,these contraadictions has become the important factors in restricting the development ofchongqing， therefore,chongqing need to seize the masterstroke of balancing urban and ruraldevelopment, emancipating the mind, reform and opening up and innovation, promotechongqing realize a new breakthrough based on the existing achievements, Try hard to buildChongqing to be economic center of upper reaches of the Yangtze River,and take the lead inrealizing the comprehensive construction of a well-off society. Since Chongqing became themunicipality directly under the central government，it continue to explore the road of howcity drives rural to develop, accumulated many experiences in coordinating the developmentof urban and rural. after chongqing become the National Synthetically Reform TestingDistrict in2007,has taken many distinctive characteristics of innovative measures，andachieved remarkable results.so we explore the path of coordination of urban and rural inchongqing,is very meaningful to Chongqing become more prosperous,at the same time,italso have demonstration and reference value in how to solve the contradiction between urbanand rural and the practice in“sannong”problem to center-west region or even nationwide.Based on this background, this paper firstly introduces the domestic and foreigntheoretical foundation of the Coordination of urban and rural，expounds the domestic andforeign relevant theory and the general theory in balancing urban and rural. And then In thedomestic Jiangsu province and Chengdu City was selected,also the United States, Japan,Korea, India, theri advanced experience in the practice in balance urban and ruraldevelopment were introduced. And in the next chapter, analysied the whole process ofbalance urban and rural development in Chongqing, the stage of urban and rural structureformation and development, the explore stage of balancing urban and rural development inChongqing, and the reform stage of balancing urban and rural development after Chongqingbecame the national synthetically reform testing district, this paper fully master the situationin every stage. Finally, on the basis of the previous research, the basic ideas and the overallgoal were determined, think about the characteristics path of Chongqing in balancing urbanand rural development: with the national policy support, take the government as theleadership, take the market as the the basis, people oriented, by system innovation as afundamental way, with the progressive reform as the main way. And then, put forward thedifficulties and obstacles in the process of the path, promoting economic support, deepen thereform of rural financial system, strengthen the organization guarantee, take the landresources as a breakthrough and the construction of ecological barrier of the Yangtze riverbasin，from these above aspects explore the countermeasure proposal in further deepening thecoordination of urban and rural.
