| Since late1990’s, there has been a new upsurge in regional cooperation with the development both in cooperation depth and extent. Under this international background, China brought forward the notion of establishing China-ASEAN Free Trade Area (CAFTA), and the CAFTA fully completed in January,2010. There is great theoretical and practical significance of how to promote the China-ASEAN trade development.Combing the theories of trade structure, related literature and the China ASEAN trade status, The paper analyzes the export similarity of China and ASEAN which adopts SITC, showing that the export structure of China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations significantly increased the convergence trend, which means that exports of China and ASEAN have become increasingly strong competition from long-term. How to promote bilateral trade between China and ASEAN has become a serious problem. Combine on China-ASEAN bilateral trade volume and similarity of export structures, the bilateral trade and export similarity between Philippines, Indonesia and China are relatively small; there is still much room for development. For the products of the smaller bilateral trade volume and the smaller similarity index such as primary products, labor-intensive products, resource-intensive products, high-tech products, has great scope. According to the direction of expansion of bilateral trade between China and ASEAN, they should further expand bilateral trade. Based on the establishment of China-ASEAN Free Trade Area, expand the Expo effect; to develop policies to encourage and create favorable conditions will expand bilateral trade. |
