Dryport is not only the produce of the economic globalization, but also the importantembodiment of regional economic cooperation. For port, dryports can promote the economicrelation of port terminals and their hinterland, and be considered as a multifunctional logisticsjoints; For inland city, dryports can effectively decrease the average logistics cost, thus reducethe economic distance with the world market. So,dryport is a important business supporterbetween port terminals and their hinterland, and ports can realize their economic hinterlandcontrol by constructing dryports. Inland city can cut short the distance to the world market byconstructing dryports, thus can promote its original superiority of national logistics. So dryport, the new form of logistics infrastructure, has been integrated into and become an indispensablepart of intermodal transport systems. Compared with western developed countries, theconstructing of dryport in our country is still at the primary stage; and its theories and practices isneeded more positive exploration. The paper focuses on the geographical attribution of dryport, and the main research content is the spacial organization of dryport. Part one briefly introducesthe research backgrounds, theoretical and practical bases, and significance, present condition, and methodology of the study. Part two made a comparison of "dryport" with variant editiondefinitions and the related concepts, then concluded the essence that "dryports are the areaswhere concentrated port service industry in the inland ". Part three describes current situationand developing trend of worldwide dryports, and summarizes the spatial organizationmechanism of dryports from port and inland city perspectives. Part four studies the evolutionmechanism of dryport’s spacial organization. The paper presents a four-step forming processmode to the dryport’s spacial organization, which is “Dot to Line to Net and to Surface.” Then ittakes Guangzhou Port as a study example, uses the mode of “One core, three loops, and fouraxises”, and structures a rationalization dryport’s spacial organization of Guangzhou Port. Finally the paper expounds the innovation and the shortage as well as future direction of theresearch.
