Along with China’s economic transformation and industrial restructuring andupgrading, as well as the factors of rural workers’ quality and age, etc. At present, thefirst generation of migrant workers gradually fades out of the urban labor market;their children who were born after80and90called the new generation of migrantworkers begin to follow their footsteps into the urban labor market. The newgeneration of migrant workers under the level of education, experience, age, etc, stillhas certain comparative advantages, but lacking of skills makes them not meetcorporate quality requirements, which has become an important factor restricting theeffective employment of the new generation of migrant workers.At present, China is in a critical period of urbanization, modernization andeconomic restructuring. On the one hand, industrial restructuring and upgrading needsa large number of high-quality industrial workers; On the other hand, the acceleratedprocess of urbanization will lead to more migrant workers to settle in the city, and thenew generation of migrant workers is undoubtedly one of the main force, furthermorethe key to whether they can successfully enter the city, is whether the employmentsituation is good.The main purpose of this study is to find measures and ways toimprove the professional quality of the new generation of migrant workers to improvetheir quality of employment, also to transform the new generation of migrant workersfrom the "survival job " into a " development employment" and finally truly to solvethe long-term non-farm employment problem for them. Relating to industrialrestructuring and upgrading, urbanization and modernization process, it does makesense. At the same time, at this stage of urbanization and the public process, the newgeneration of migrant workers in our country needs to have stable long-term work to improve the non-farm income; as a result, seeking long-term non-farm employmentcountermeasures for them has its epoch-making significance.This study concluded that: Firstly, the new generation of migrant workers in orderto achieve long-term non-farm employment, has to improve the quality of their own,including the level of education and vocational skills. According to our survey, mostof the new generation of migrant workers can not meet the requirements of theindustries’ which have upgraded its structure. In view of this, the author believes thatwith the support of our country,the new generation of migrant workers shouldactively accept compulsory education, and before entering the field of employment,they have to actively participate in vocational skills training to equip themselves witha higher level of vocational skills or learn multiple skills in order to better meet therequirements of the high skill level; Secondly the new generation of migrant workersat the same time also fosters a better concept of employment. Our survey found whenthe new generation of migrant workers enters the field of employment, if they haveestablished clear objectives and worked in an industry for a long time and continue tolearn the industry expertise and accumulate experience, they will be much easier toachieve a long-lasting non-farm employment; Finally, only with the support of ourcountry, that the new generation of migrant workers is more likely to succeed, and thepractice survey also proved this point. At the same time the author believes that,China needs to strengthen its support to further promote the long-term non-farmemployment of the new generation of migrant workers.The features of this study are: First, this study is about long-term non-farmemployment problems of the new generation of migrant workers, and demonstrates arelatively new concept of long-term non-farm employment; Second, this studyemphasizes on the new generation of migrant workers improve their own quality.Although this article relates to the support of national policies and appropriate legalprotection, it more emphasizes on the fundamental solution to the long-termnon-farm employment problem of the new generation of migrant workers’. Third, thewriting of this article has taken a relatively new mode of writing; there are a lot ofcases in this article, using the cases to come to the success factors and failure factors. These cases are typical sample targeted selected by the author, which the author alsoconducts in-depth interviews to obtain first-hand information, credible, and verypractical.
