Nearshore Island Tourism Destination Development Mode Research

With per capita income growing, China has entered a new era of leisure and holiday tourism, which forms a large-scale leisure demand. What kind of tourism destination can effectively meet and release the requirements? Today, tourism industry must be transformed on development pattern. Where is the breakthrough point in the transition of Tourism? The marine economy of our country has been raised as a national strategy. What is the next growth point which can keep the marine economic fast growing? Because of these problems, the research object of this paper was focused on nearshore island tourism destination.The island has a pleasant climate, clean air, unique"4S"tourism resources, and beautiful views of the ocean. It is the ideal leisure place, especially the nearshore island. Because of its own characteristic near the land, it is an important part of the recreational belt around Metropolis. At weekend, it is also an important leisure place for dwellers. However, at present, the development and utilization of nearshore island is not sufficient, causing many unused tourism resources to waste. We hope to solve this problem through the study of development model of the nearshore island tourism destination.Based on the summary of the characteristics of coastal island tourism destination, this paper puts forward the "seaward and low density" development mode of the nearshore island tourism destination. After the analysis of the conditions of tourism resources and utilization, this paper offers countermeasures and suggestions for the development of Nansan Island tourism destination, according to the "seaward and low density" development mode. It might also offer significant references for the development of other nearshore tourism destination. Some conclusions could be summed as follow:(1) The tourism resources of Nansan islands are various and distinctive, esp. the tourism resources related to sea are abundant, large-scale, and dominant in the tourist resources. Its climate resources against cold are unique and cultural and historical tourism resources are local and of the time.(2) Tourism resources "seaward" distribution.totally, the Nansan islands tourism resources are concentrated on the east & southwest coasts and Northern coast in the form of the "point" and "strip" as coastal area of the island far from the land.(3) From the perspective of leisure vacation, excellent tourist resources are in a larger proportion. Natural tourism resources, including beach, cold climate, island, sea landscape, Marine products and aquatic animal, are the highest level resource types of the Nansan islands tourism destination, which is the foundation for the development of tourism. Historical relics, hot springs, ocean culture, folk culture, the island town, folk activities, leisure venues and entertainment facilities are an important part of the tourism resources.(4) Through the comparative analysis between the nearshore island tourism destination and offshore island tourism destination, this paper finds the nearshore island tourism destination has the some advantages:he obvious interaction between sea and land, the distinctive qualities of tourism resourcegood ecological environments, tourism services borne by the land town, and convenient transportation.(5)Seaward and low density tourism development model is an nearshore island development mode based on fully understanding and respecting the island wetland, river, forest, farmland and other geographical factors and space environment, with objective analysis of the tourism resources spatial distribution and quality characteristics. It could protect the island’s ecological environment and enhance the appeal of island tourism from the perspectives of tourism resources, service facilities, industrial development, and land use. The model consists of five parts:group development of tourism resources, the service function Island-mainland linkage, Island Industrial integrated development, development intensity low density principle and the land use layer pattern.(6)Seaward and low-density tourism development model could solve four problems. Firstly, fully excavate the value of tourism resources, and effectively outstand characteristics of tourist resources. Secondly, it can rationally utilize city spillover effect and promote the rapid development of island tourism. Thirdly, the island tourism industry is the core to drive regional development and the development of related industries. Forth, it can effectively control the negative environmental impacts and protect the island ecological environment.From the perspective of tourism, this paper puts forward the concept of nearshore island and sums up the characteristics of nearshore island tourism destination. This study constructed evaluation index system of island tourism resources based on the perspective of leisure vacation. According to the investigation and evaluation of the nearshore islands tourism resources and analysis of development and utilization conditions, this paper proposes development ideas at Nansan islands tourism destination based on seaward and low-density development mode. It might offer the significant demonstration on the development of tourism in other nearshore island in china.
