Happiness Index Structure Analysis And Estimates Of Urban Residents In Beijing

This paper is based on the domestic and foreign theories of happiness, the authorselected the question of subjective feeling of happiness as the main aim of theresearch. Background material comes from a Beijing citizen happiness survey startedfrom2006which was conducted by Statistics College in Capital University ofEconomics and Business. This paper will explain the traditional methods forcalculating happiness index in that survey as well as point out several problems thatcaused by the traditional methods. Meanwhile, the paper will concentrate on the2011data and propose a new analysis model.In devising questions in the questionnaire and selecting data, the authorconsidered the subjective feeling of happiness theory and the psychological feeling ofhappiness theory, asking questions which focus on these two theories and taking thebalance of the number in each theory into account to minimize the error.Importantly, the paper uses structural equation model and partial least squaresseparately demonstrate happiness structural model and happiness index. It highlightsthe advantage that structural equation model would apply on researching latentvariables internal structure as well as the advantage that partial least squares wouldapply on calculating happiness index, in which way reconsiders the variables thataffect the feeling of happiness.In the last part of this paper, it analyses the feature of happiness feeling fromdifferent group of people and reaches conclusions.
