Petrochina Realize Low Carbon Development Path Selection

The concept of low-carbon have been put forward in the UK energy white paper for the first time since2003, the word low carbon economy have appeared frequently in various countries and regions in the world. Among the kinds of government documents and international forums, a series of new concepts, like" carbon footprint"," low carbon technology "," low carbon development"," low carbon city"," low carbon society", and also on, emerge as the times require. The essence of low carbon economy is to reduce the emissions of pollutants and energy consumption in social and economic activities by the innovation of the low carbon technology and low carbon system, and completion of low-carbon energy structure at the final. As China’s petroleum industry leading enterprises, China National Petroleum Corporation Group (Sinopec in short), both have the responsibility to protect national energy security, and have an obligation to actively respond to global climate change and develop the low carbon economy, which making the country realized the carbon reduction target smoothly. Therefore, the researching on The path selection of realization of the Sinopec’s low carbon development not only has important theoretical significance, but also very important practical significance.In the first place, this paper introduces the general theory of the low carbon economy, and elaborates the basic characteristics of the low carbon economy, which based on the low carbon economy’economic, technical and objective, and induces the basic measure index of the low carbon economy into low carbon energy index, low carbon technology index, low carbon consumption index and other three index.In the second place, this paper takes the Exxon Mobil, shell and BP, those three big international oil companies of low carbon development to undertake study, to analysis of their responses to climate change point of view, low carbon development strategy and specific measures, and to summarizes the low carbon development experience of the foreign large petroleum Company, which our petroleum industry could reference. At the same time, these paper analyses the low carbon development present situation and the existing problems of the china’s petroleum industry.In the third place, on the basis of the previous article, this paper combined with the low carbon development present situation of the Sinopec, analysis the Path selection of realization of the Sinopec’s low carbon development by SWOT, summed up the Sinopec’ internal advantages, disadvantages and external opportunity, threat.Finally, this paper analysis the content and requirements of growth strategy, reverse strategy, diversified strategy, defensive strategy, and puts forward the main measure of the strategy, namely the path of realization of the Sinopec’s low carbon development.
