Research On Package Urbanization Of Guangzhou

Since reform and open to the outside world, urbanization of China becomes aproblem having more influence on the economic development of China and the world,and also a major problem researched by academic circles at home and abroad. In the“twelfth five-year” planning proposal, promoting modern urbanization is pointed outclearly. The practice of modern urbanization in Guangzhou can accumulate goodexperience of China’s urbanization.At present, literatures researching on urbanization are numerous domestically,mainly focusing on research of urbanization connotation, motive and its mechanism.Considering that there is no research result on system of package urbanization athome and abroad for reference in the “twelfth five-year” period for taking a new pathof development of urbanization in megacities like Guangzhou, the research studiesand concludes the concept and influencing factors of urbanization taking exotic taxidrivers in Guangzhou as example, sorting out the phenomenon of packageurbanization in working, living and dwelling caused by inflowing of peasant-workerfrom underdeveloped area to the developed area through demonstration effect oftraditional network, and further excavates and explores the driving mechanism ofpackage urbanization, and conducts a preliminary exploratory research on this field.To address the above problems, this paper first introduces phenomena of packageurbanization, puts forward the definition of package urbanization, generalizes thefeatures of package urbanization, summarizes influence factors of packageurbanization, analyzes driving mechanism of package urbanization and makes acomparison of package urbanization mechanism with other urbanization mechanisms.Secondly the paper makes an overall understanding and analysis of Guangzhoupackage urbanization with questionnaire method and depth interview based on theresearch case of Guangzhou foreign taxi drivers. A conclusion is made through theresearch of Guangzhou package urbanization: package urbanization means theurbanization process that the group of fellow migrant workers gets urban employment information and work position depending on their private primary social network,migrates from villages to cities, and gathers together with fellow villagers both at theaspects of working industry and living space. Its main features are: homology, similarjob, commensalisms and marginality. Macro factors and micro factors are the mainfactor that affects Guangzhou package urbanization, and under interaction of the twofactors generates four dynamic forces: social network, private survival anddevelopment, government decision-making and regional economic disparity, whichinteract and affect each other on Guangzhou package urbanization development. Thelargest difference between package urbanization mechanism and commonurbanization mechanism is reflected in learning mechanism, what packageurbanization emphasizes on is the learning effect among peasant migrants whilecommon urbanization does not reflect obvious learning mechanism.
