Study On Core Competence Of General Contracting For Chinese Power Construction Company

In2011, China Power Construction Group Co., Ltd. and China EnergyConstruction Group Co., Ltd. was set up, this is a major opportunity for the Chineseelectric power construction enterprises to participate in domestic and internationalengineering contracting market. Therefore, how to cultivate and enhance the corecompetitiveness of general contracting of electric power construction enterprise is anurgent need to address management issues. This article firstly analysis projectcontracting status and problems of electric power construction enterprise throughPorter’s value chain analysis based on the theoretical basis of the core competencetheory, Porter value chain analysis theory and general contracting theory. In order tocultivate the core competitiveness of general contracting and power constructionenterprise in China, the power construction enterprise engineering contractingactivities, and make a detailed analysis, identification and evaluation on the internalquality and the external value system including policy factors, market factors,competitors, and upstream and downstream suppliers and subcontractors. Thestrategic direction of the electric power construction enterprises should cultivate thedifferences in competitiveness and integration of resources of the constructiontechnology core competitiveness, analyzes the power construction enterprise throughtheir own training, to establish strategic alliances, outsourcing and mergers andacquisitions of non-core way to cultivate the core competitiveness of generalcontracting. By the same time, the electric power construction companies shall focuson the following five measures of cultivate and enhance the core competitiveness ofgeneral contracting, including setting up organization model adapting the generalcontracting model, improving the level of human resource management, enhancinggeneral contracting function construction, enhancing enterprises’ technologicalinnovation capability and building unique characteristics of corporate culture. Finally,this article analyzes the general contracting development and problems of TEPCCompany, and raises the measures and proposals on cultivating the corecompetitiveness of general contracting.
