The Research On Supply Chain Interruption Management In W Company

With the development of globalization, the Enterprises in the worldcollaborate with each other and become copartners via the industry supplychain. The competition between each company is more the competitionbetween the supply chain than the competition between companies due tothe reliance companies have on the supply chain.Most of the companies are adopting the high efficiency managementmethods such as “JIT”, centralized production and distribution, sole vendor,etc.. Those methods make the whole supply chain became “rigid”.Meanwhile, lots of natural disasters, fatal accidents, sudden public healthincidents and public politic events always break up the stability andharmony. How to handle the interruption of supply chain efficiently andtimely is now a hot topic in supply chain research academic&Industrialcircles.This paper made analysis and sum-up on countermeasures to supplyinterruption which happened in multi-national corporations based onprevious research results and actual cases in W Company. The paper starts from the actual situation in automobile industry,introduced the concept, classification, characters and challenges of supplychain in automobile industry. Then made an analysis on two actual cases ofsupply chain interruption in W company to abstract the theory, build up themodel. The two cases are:(1) foreseeable supply interruption. One chinalocal company has the production capacity slip down till zero during thetime before and after china spring festival.(2) Unforeseeable supplyinterruption. One rubber parts supplier of W Company in Thailand stoppedsupplying parts to its Qingdao plant due to the impact of floods disaster in2011.In the end, a summery was made for countermeasures of supplyinterruption and prospect for the theory development of supply chaininterruption management under the background of multi-nationalcompanies.
