Today the aviation industry development is changing rapidly, and the competitionbetween aviation manufacturers is becoming more and more fiercely. The traditionalway of production can’t fulfill the requirement of organization to reorganize and bemore competitive. Lean production, as the modern manufacture managementmethodology, is based on reducing the waste. It is also the best way to increase thework efficiency and the competition of the corporate. The feasibility is not onlyproved in auto industry but also in the aviation industry.Tianjin Airbus Final assembly line is based on the Airbus single aisle finalassembly line in Hamburg. The aircraft assembly lines in Hamburg and Toulousehave more than20years’ experience and Tianjin final assembly line is a brand newaircraft assembly line where we could have a good opportunity to implement the goodexperience and improve the way from Hamburg and Toulouse. In aviation industry,the most complicated manufacture industry in the world, Lean can well support us toachieve the production target. And also, Lean production can transfer the knowledgeand experience from Europe to Tianjin and make it better.In this thesis, we define and analyse the problems during the cabin assemblyprocess, such as how to reduce the production cost, how to achieve the qualitystandard while increasing the production rate, and how we use lean productionmethodology to solve the problems step by step. Our first concern is to transfer thelean thinking not only to management team but also to the productive blue collars. Weuse the5S to improve the workshop on-site management, and the VSM to define thestandard production process. We also calculate the needed manpower by the usage oflearning curve. We encourage the blue collars to have multi-function skill andincrease their only skill. We also use the CPA to continuously improve themanufacture way and keep it developing in a health way.
