The Impact Of Competition And Cooperation On Innovation Performance——in The Perspectiveo Business Ecosystem

The era of knowledge economy and economic globalization has witnessed business ecosystem becoming a new-type network that helps enterprise to establish competitive advantage and acquire maximized benefits from the process of open innovation. In the business ecosystem, the game rule of innovation has been changed, and the inter-enterprise relationship within the ecosystem has shifted into a gaming situation that combines both competition and cooperation. The business ecosystem provides enterprises brand new insights to comprehensively understand and grasp the external environment, then better handle the relationship with other business organizations.The research objectives are as follows:(1) Explore the effect on innovation performance in the choice between completion and cooperation strategy implemented to different eco-subjects including enterprise, buyer, supplier, peer competitor and complimentary company in business ecosystem.(2) Define the environmental turbulence that features in technological turbulence and market turbulence as a significant contingency variable that influences the development of enterprise, and then investigate the environmental turbulence’s adjustment mechanism on the relationship between the coopetition behaviors of enterprise with its eco-partners and innovation performance.Based on previous studies, this article has executed data analysis among274companies, and drew the following conclusions through theoretical analysis and empirical research:(1) In business ecosystem, enterprise’s cooperation with eco-partners including buyers, suppliers and complimentary companies, and its competition with peer companies have significant positive correlation with enterprise’s innovation performance. (2) In business ecosystem, environmental turbulence has positive adjustment effect from the perspective of cooperative behaviors between enterprise and suppliers&buyers on its innovation performance, while a negative adjustment effect has been implicated from the perspective of competition between enterprise and peer companies on its innovation performance.The innovation of this research embodies in the investigation of an interactive relationship between a micro-enterprise with its surrounding environment and other subjects, which covers the insufficiency of (micro) company-level researches and empirical researches in existing business ecosystem.This study offers due directive significance for enterprise to better select proper cooperative strategy with eco-partners, deal with the variation of external environment and promote its innovation performance in business ecosystem.
