According to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, Demand is divided into five levels:physiological needs; safety needs; belonging and love needs;esteem needs and self-actualization needs, Which is in order of priority from low level to high level, low-level is met before a higher level. food is one of the most basic needs in the human physiological needs, People have to meet the food needs in order to effectively engage in other activities. food security is particularly important to China which has more than1.3billion people. It is related to the country’s stability, the stability of the regime, and economic development.In recent years, people’s food consumption is changing from "subsistence consumption" focusing on quantity to "well-off consumption" focusing on quality and nutrition with the significantly increasing of per capita income,The most direct and obvious impact is to reduce the direct consumption of staple food such as rice; wheat and increase intaking nutrient from meat, eggs and other animal products, which leds to changing the structure of food consumption.The study of food supply should be deepen into food security which will be more practical significance, In order to ensure our various nutritional and healthy food needs, We must change the conception,adjust the industrial structure,develop modern agriculture,to effectively address the issue of food security.Pasture is called as the green gold donated by god and the bridge leading to the modern agriculture. While alfalfa is known as the "king of grass", because of its rich nutritional value; adaptability; ecological effects; and the significantly economic effects, It is widely promoted in the country.This article aims to reveal the impact of food security with the development of the alfalfa industry through describing respective development status and character and the relationship among the alfalfa industry and our country’s food supply and demond as well as residents’income.
