With the improvement of people’s daily life, the enhancement of people’s environmental awareness, the increase of market competence and the promotion of mandatory regulations by governments, reverse logistics is attracting more and more attention. The implementation of reverse logistics can not only reduce cost and increase profits, but also improve customer satisfaction and enhance enterprise competitiveness. More importantly, it can save resources and reduce environmental pollution. The choice of operation mode is one of the most important decisions made in reverse logistics management. Therefore, it is our main purpose to study the choice of reverse logistics operation mode in a supply chain. In this thesis, we first briefly analyze the drivers for enterprises to implement reverse logistics and the objectives and methods of our research. After that, the state of the art about reverse logistics at home and abroad is introduced. Furthermore, the definitions, characteristics and classifications of reverse logistics are presented respectively. In addition, we describe some basic theories about the operation modes of reverse logistics and introduce the three operation modes which are self-operation, joint operation and outsourcing. On the other hand, the current operation mode and existing problems in the reverse logistics of the company J are given. Based on that, some factors that may influence the choice of operation mode are also presented. After choosing some evaluation metrics based on KPI (Key Performance Indicators), we use ANP (Analytic Network Process) to choose the best operation mode for the company J. Finally, the construction, implementation and evaluation of reverse logistics in the company J are discussed.
