During three decades of reform and opening up, China’seconomy have achieved rapid development, the level ofresidents’ income has been greatly improved. At the same time,however, the problem of uneven distribution of income hasgradually become increasingly prominent. Especially should payattention to is, income gap between urban and rural residentsin China continues to expand, too large income gap between urbanand rural areas is not conducive to China’s economic systemreform, but also is not conducive to the further developmentof the economy, even causes serious negative impact on China’ssocial stability. Therefore, in-depth study of the situationof income gap between urban and rural in China, analyzing thecauses of income gap, are practical significant to ourgovernment to put forward and implement the policy,alsoimportant to the healthy development of the national economy and the construction of harmonious society.This paper is divided into five sections:The first chapter describes theoretical background andsignificance of the income gap problems between urban and rural,and introduces the related research of domestic and foreignscholars. This is the research foundation of this articleThe second chapter is the theoretical basis of this article.It’s an introduction of Marx’s theory about the income gap andLewis’s Duality economic theory. According to Marx’s theory ofincome distribution, distribution according to work-based, thecoexistence of a variety of distribution in our country,determines the income gap produces. Duality economic theorymodel proposed that labor transfer in different productiondepartments between urban and rural, can effectively narrow theincome gap.The third chapter introduces the present situation andinfluence factors of the income gap. This paper starts from theGini coefficient to analysis the status of the residents’income gap, the Gene coefficient is a important measure, thecoefficient values is from0to1in the. When Gene coefficient becomes larger, the urban and rural income inequality is moreserious. In general, the Gini coefficient is below0.3, morethan0.4shows that the gap between rich and poor appearances.Based on this, this paper also systematically analyzes theinfluence factors of the income gap of residents, includingmarket, policy and government regulation.The fourth chapter presents policy recommendations tonarrow the income gap between urban and rural residents,including increasing transfer payments to agriculture and therural, sounding social security system, optimizing the incomelevel of low-income people, promoting the free movement of thelabor market mechanisms, to strengthen the financial supportof agriculture and improve rural financial system and promotingredistribution mechanisms to adjust the income gap.The fifth chapter summarizes the views of this paper and listthe conclusion.
