With the development of technology and organizational change, the individual’s career has changed dramatically. Traditional careers associated with rapid, upward mobility in a single hierarchy have increasingly been replaced by boundaryless careers that are relatively unpredictable and disorderly, and frequently involve horizontal mobility across organizational boundaries. Characteristics change of career led to the increase of the uncertainty of the individual career development, making individuals feel a sense of insecurity which is called career insecurity in the outlook on the future career. Career insecurity could impact individuals’career decision making. Selecting Enterprise employees as surveyed object, the study discussed the influence of boundaryless on the career insecurity and career indecision with the introduction of career competencies. Firstly,84subjects were asked to finish an open questionnaire and the boundaryless career scale was generalized. Then164subjects were questioned by a pre-test. Finally,295subjects were investigated by the revised questionnaire. The current study draws several conclusions as follows:(1) The concept of boundaryless career is two-dimensional which includes boundaryless value and boundaryless mobility preference. And different age stage, corporate nature and the job change frequency have different effects on these two dimensions.(2) Boundaryless career is in a negative relationship with career insecurity.(3) Career insecurity is positive with career indecision.(4) Career insecurity was founded a total mediator in the relationship between boundaryless career and career indecision.(5) Career competencies partially moderate the relationship between boundaryless career and career insecurity. There are mainly two innovations in this study.(1) Based on the current career situation, this study re-examined the boundaryless career as previous studies did not clearly reflect individual’s boundarylessness and reflect the connotations of boundaryless career. This study confirmed that boundaryless career has a two-dimensional structure and generated corresponding measurement scale by empirical research.(2) This study confirmed the intermediary role of career insecurity on the relationship between boundaryless career and career insecurity from the perspective of the process model. This study will provide an valuable reference in the management of employee turnover behavior and personal career change, as well as lay the foundation for future relative research.
