In medium and small enterprises in the city of Lanzhou, the idea that human itself can be an important part of organizational resource has not been widely introduced into the current management system. Compensation becomes a main method for medium and small enterprises to hire employees as well as to attract them to stay. From the views of aspects that influence employees’satisfaction of salary, I made some exploration and discussion about the problem of salary satisfaction of medium and small enterprises in Lanzhou and its corresponding solutions.After analyzing articles and documents on compensation management as well as current circumstances of companies, I designed a questionnaire. The current research conducted an empirical survey of800employees in6companies, and701among them were effective. Hongyu transformer manufactory in Gansu is chosen as the demonstration enterprise.Data analysis is demonstrated in statistical diagrams. At first, I demonstrated the entire information of the sample and its representative problems in percentage index chart. Then I used the statistic software SPSS to handle the data, in order to evaluate the credibility of the questionnaire, the degree of effects and satisfaction, and the degree of correlation between different aspects. The result shows that the index of employees’work and salary satisfaction is relatively low in medium and small enterprises in Lanzhou. The six factors of compensation level, structure, discrepancy, growth, determinants, and mode of payment have significant effects on salary satisfaction. The gradation of education, the length of service and the position of an individual also have clear influences on it.According to the results of the analysis and items in the questionnaire, I found out common and current problems in compensation management among medium and small enterprises in Lanzhou, and come up with some corresponding strategies to improve it.The analysis of demonstration enterprise is detached as an independent part, with its data calculated by functions in Excel software. The problem of salary in the demonstration enterprise shares both the universality of medium and small companies in Lanzhou as well as its specific characteristics.The innovation of this research is the survey of empirical questionnaire, the result of which is representative. The result of the analysis can offer reference for enterprises to develop their salary management and to improve their salary systems pertinently. In addition, the quantity of samples, the content of questionnaire and the limitations to individual knowledge can also cause deviations in the conclusion inevitably.
