It is recognized that bell-less top distributor is one of the most critical equipments inthe system of modern blast furnace, which directly affects the performance and variouseconomic indicators of blast furnace. There are several defects in the domestic bell-lesstop distributor, including the problems of sealing, cooling, and process control. Theseproblems must be resolved, for the poor performance and frequent failures of domesticdistributors affect the production of blast furnace seriously, which will cause seriouseconomic losses.Based on the requirements of simple structure, safety and reliability, a bell-less topdistributor actuated by three hydraulic cylinders is designed. Three hydraulic cylindersare actuated by hydraulic system to raise the backing ring, then the chute inclines drivenby the crank, and the chute rotates driven by a pair of open gears. Firstly, the defect ofopen water cooling and its reasons are analyzed, the effects of open cooling and closedcooling are compared, and the influence of cool water flow is studied, then the use ofnitrogen seal floating seal is used to overcome seal difficulties; secondly, thephenomenon of chute angle fluctuation is analyzed, and a model of intelligent controlmodel is established to adjust burden distribution; at last, the causes and effects of thechute failure are studied, both the nest-shaped structure and the smooth structure of chuteare analyzed, and the method is researched to extent the life of chute from the point ofstructure and material.Through theoretical analysis and industrial practice, the bell-less top distributoractuated by three hydraulic cylinders is stable and reliable. Closed water cooling is betterthan open water cooling, and eases the rust-eaten phenomenon, the results of finiteelements analysis shows that the increase of water flow benefits to decrease thetemperature of distributor, and the best flow is15m3/h; intelligent control model of chuteinclination shows good adaptability, the correctness of the model is verified throughpractice, and presetting angles used in the process well meet the requirements ofproduction; as high wear-resistant materials, sintered carbide is able to meet the performance and cost less, and the nest-shaped structure of chute is designed to extendthe life.
