Roller, one of major parts of rolling mill, is a major deformation mold of rolling mill, and itsprocessing quality directly determines the reasonableness of the production process and theeconomy of the product, therefore, it is the key of rolling mill technology to process roller andmeet the processing requirements. Noncircular cross section roller can bring special motion,and it is difficult to design and machining owing to its complex cross section and it has higherrequirements about the shape, position accuracy and dimensional accuracy, especially, annulargrooved rollers is a noncircular cross section of complex shape, so, it becomes one hot topic inthe researching domain of the roller how to improve the machining quality of noncircular crosssection roller and lower the cost.The subject is mainly to study processing methods for the Pilger shaped roll groove surface.In order to get the analytic expression of cross section curve for grooved and ringed roller, it isnecessary to have an in-depth analysis of the characteristics of the roll surface, by usingbusiness mathematics software MATLAB7.0from the MathWorks company, which has apowerful real matrix calculation and drawing functions, and by fitting its cross section contourcurve. To create processing model through using three-dimensional modeling software Pro/ENGINEER; prepare the turning technology solutions and do turning process by choosingwide number GSK980TD CNC system. reasonably select cutting tool and cutting dosage, setprocessing and operating environment, define the NC series, and convert3d processing modelinto cutter location data files, then the G code can be generated through the rear processingsoftware. Modify the NC program generated from the post-processing by combining thecharacteristics of the wide number GSK980TD CNC system. In order to provide the technicalbasis for the prepared turning processing process, the procedure should be imported widenumber GSK980TD and do turning processing experiment, and analyze the radial motioncharacteristics of cutters with wide number GSK980TD CNC system and do error analysis forturning processing experiment results.The subject is put forwarded mainly aimed at the processing for the Pilger special-shapedroller with complex roll groove; meanwhile, it has the reference significance for other similarshape parts surface turning processing.
