With the continuous progress of ink-jet technology,the ink-jet printing becomesmore precise and accurate,the inkjet printing quality of people’s increasing demands,it becomes more and more attention to efficiently detect the ink-jet printing quality.However,the parameter index of ink droplets is the most intuitive reflection of thedetection and assessment of the ink-jet printing quality,the main parameters of inkdroplets is the drop size, drop velocity,droplet shape and droplet trajectory.But thedroplet size is too small and fly in a very high speed,it is difficult to capture thesecharacteristics parameters drop by human directly,so the research and design of inkdroplet detection system is very necessary.This paper is based on the printing control experiment platform of existingink-jet,droplet forming process and physical characteristics of ink droplets are studied,and the design scheme of droplet detection control system is presented.The emphasesand difficulties to system design are analyzed and then the ink drop detection controlsystem based on the embedded system is realized.Using main control board as thecore control of system,and compatible controlling multiple inkjet head,which isconnected to the1394bus,using4B/5B code as data communication code to ensurethe reliability of data transmission.The multiple inkjet head control of system aredesigned based on FPGA, this paper gives a detailed design of hardware circuit andFPGA internal about two kinds of the inkjet head control.The system implements realtime image capture of high speed moving droplets by using industrial CCDcamera,and processing method of ink drop images based on image results isstudied,the frame difference method and background difference method are presentedby the characteristics of droplets images,then drop parameter calibration algorithm isprovided.Finally,forming process of droplets are observed by the experiment,and thisarticle further study on the effect of temperature on the droplet size.
