The first step of tire production is rubber mixing and it is also one of the key working procedure, the quality of mixing equipment performance directly affects the quality of the rubber, which affects the tyre quality and service life. With the emergence of new materials and new technology, the traditional rubber mixing equipment can’t realize online exhaust, fast heating up, low mixing efficiency, higher energy consumption. And the emergence of the tandem type mixer is good enough to solve these problems.In this paper, on the basis of consulting a large number of literature at home and abroad, the tandem mixer mixing mechanism are studied, and a tandem type mixer is designed. On the platform location is a complete mixer, the next station is a mixer without ram. On this basis, this paper made a lot of research, specific work is as follows:1.On the basis of the traditional mixer and the theory of viscous fluid and viscoelastic solid theory, the tandem mixer mixing and dispersion mechanism was analyzed. The main technical characteristics of new type of rotor is introduced in detail from mixing process, the unique rotor configuration and excellent thermal conductivity. At the same time also puts forward the mixing mechanism of the new rotor and mixing process of new type rotor were analyzed.2. Determine the tandem mixer design program, on the basis of the traditional mixer, the structure of tandem mixer experiment platform was appropriately improved, and design the whole mixer experiment platform. On the basis of the traditional shear rotor and meshing rotor a new rotor was designed which has the advantages of both them. 3. The physical model, mathematical model and finite element model of the new rotor is set up. The mixing process of new type rotor is simulated by POLFIOW, and analyzes the new rotor temperature field, pressure field, viscosity field, shear rate field and the mixing index.4. Tandem mixer for the experimental research, the experimental results show that we can get the best mixed results when the cooling water temperature is50℃, the rotor speed is30r/min, filling coefficient is0.35, mixing temperature is130℃.5. Under the condition of optimum process parameters tandem mixer experiments was conduct, and compared the experimental results with the traditional mixer experiments, single step mixing at low temperature, two section of continuous mixing experiment, etc and analyzed the different mixing method for sizing the effects of physical performance. Finally the article also analyzed the the performance of the final rubber mixing at different silica added quantity.
