The MFL pipe saw is the important equipment to achieve the required size of pipe and smooth the head of pipe in the Hengyang Hualing Steel Tube Co.,Ltd. It directly affects the quality and quantity of seamless steel tube. In sawing process of seamless steel tube, we need to clamp the seamless steel pipe to ensure the stability of cutting process.So the clamping way and the clamping force is very important.The MFL pipe saw is equipped with clamping device and calculating formula of clamping force when importing. But the clamping device and calculating formula of clamping force is not reliable because of the changed producing conditions.The phenomenons of pipe tighted,pipe caught flat and saw blade hit often appear.The existing research on clamping force of steel pipe sawing can not provide rational data of clamping force due to the lack of study on pipe cutting mechanism.Therefore, it is necessary to study the mechanism of pipe cutting.Then a reasonable scheme and new clamping force guidelines should be designed due to the present situation of the clamping device.In this paper, the main research work, methods and conclusions are summarized as following:(1) Based on the analysis of pipe cutting process, a reasonable pipe cutting model was established. Then the sawing parameters were simulated using the MSC.Marc software, and the correctness of the model was verified by experiment.(2) The pipe clamping process and the influence of cutting feed force on the tube’s deformation were analyzed using the finite element software ANSYS. The reasons of steel pipe’s plastic deformation were found out.(3) Combined with the characteristics of steel pipe sawing, the new formula and setting criterion of pipe cutting clamping force was given based on the model of pipe clamping. The clamping force of pipe cutting was set more reasonable.(4) Through the analysis on the vibration’s characteristics of MFL pipe saw’s composite clamping system, the unstable elements in cutting process were found. A reasonable reforming scheme of the clamping system was put forward.And it has got very good application in practice.
