In general, tower crane composed by varieties of standard components, such asstandard sections, units etc. These parts can be combined or formed with manydifferent working conditions, these features are the tower crane’s basic functions, aswell as the fundamental properties of its works. At present, the finite elementsoftware often be used in the process of design, optimization and verification and soon. Considering the FEM-modeling work is very time-cost, thus simplifying thefinite element modeling process for the sake of improving design efficiency isparticularly significant. The first part of this thesis aims to conduct innovative research about theprocess of building the tower crane’s finite element model, to make fully use of thecommonly modeling software AutoCAD and finite element software ANSYS todevelop the entire system of these process, which consists of modeling, transformation, finite element pre-processing, assembly and other severalcomponents. In this study, by using ObjectARX.Net to secondary develop theAutoCAD, using APDL to program the Macro-files for the ANSYS, and using MFCto program the parameters input interface, which integrated the process ofAutoCAD Modeling and ANSYS pre-processing. Then, by using parameterizedassembly technique, let the software having this ability to read CAD’s3D linestructure and transform it into specific finite element model. Thus it can assemblevarious standard structures, in order to establish varieties of commonly used towercrane entire or parts of the model. Now this system can model many common towercranes such as, tower style, luffing, flat top, Potain etc. And it also can quicklybuild and assemble the structure in a short time. Any design which be revised inAutoCAD can be quickly converted to the FEM environment correspondingly. Alsoany existing CAD3D graphic can be utilized efficiently to create a variety ofworking conditions of tower crane. This new modeling ideas and CAD&CAEintegrated technology can deal with the challenge of repeatedly modeling in theprocess of tower crane design. It can effectively improve the efficiency of designand analysis. The second part of this thesis is to design a QTZ2400tower crane. By referring the latest rules in the process, to design a structure of luffing tower crane, which isupper rotation, self-lifting, and its hoisting moment can reach to2400TM.At the same time, in order to meet the reasonable and reliability of the structuredesign, and take full advantage of the system mentioned above, modeling the FEMtower crane, analyzing and verification the structure’s entire mechanicalperformance in multi-working conditions under the specificed load situation. Theeffective and reasonable of the tower crane design can be certificated by thisanalysis process.
