Bus frame is the base part of a bus. Using finite element method to analyze and optimize it can improve automobile performance, reduce the cost of design and manufacture of cars and increase capability of market competition.With reasonable and suitable simplifications, a fine FEM model of the frame was established by using Hypermesh.In this article, model testing of the frame were done and the natural frequency of the frame under the free state was calculated, the frame dynamic performance was mastered. The rationality of the finite element model of the frame was verified. Through static analysis in bending and torsion conditions, the frame static performance was gotten.Based on the former modal results, to ascertain the influence of the change of the component’s thickness to the nature frequencies and mass, the sensitivity analysis was performed. More rational design parameters for the following optimization analysis can got based on the sensitivity analysis. So in the paper the concept and significance of sensitivity analysis is very important.In the optimization analysis, the thickness of parts were set as design parameters, different object functions can be designed according to different purpose. In this paper the weight of the frame set as the object functions.The systemic procedure was established for the dynamic analysis of the frame. The method can apply to any other similar research. The item accumulated some experience for some correlative research.
