With acceleration of urbanization and stricter and stricter requirements of road cleanness, sweeper truck which is specially used in cleaning road has been widely used in cities. In order to actively respond to the great challenges of the global energy crisis and environmental pollution, the application of hybrid technology to sweeper truck, which could be made best use of the advantages of its fuel economy, emission reduction, could overcome the traditional sweeper’s disadvantages on high oil consumption and bad emission, which is of great significance to the sustainable development of sweeper truck.In this paper, a traditional sweeper truck was redesigned into a hybrid one so that the oil consumption and emission could get a reduction, which was based on a project of Production, Education&Research of Guangdong Province. In the paper, research was mainly based on two aspects, design of power system and determination of control strategy. Six points of work are listed in the following:1. Analysis of the research background. Current situation of hybrid sweeper truck aboard and domestic was summarized, the potential application and research significance were analysed simultaneously.2. Design of power system and structural arrangement. System structure and operating conditions, advantages and disadvantages of3different power systems-in series, in parallel, in series-parallel-are contained in the paper. On the basis of prototype’s system structure and analysis of traditional hybrid power, the design of power system and structural arrangement were accomplished for hybrid sweeper truck.3. Parameter Match of power system. Model selection and parameter match were conducted and basic parameters of system components were determined based on operating conditions, dimensions of prototype truck, as well as power performance, economy, reliability and the possibility of components laying-out.4. Determination of control strategy. With the precondition of guaranteeing basic functions of the sweeper, control strategy of power system was formulated, whose foundation was economy efficiency. 5. Performance Simulation of power system. Simulation model was built with MATLAB/Simulink software and verification of the drivetrain program and control strategy of hybrid power system was completed based on off-line simulation.6. Experiments. The solution and control strategy for further verification has been done by RCP(Rapid Control Proto-typing) test on the power system of hybrid sweeper truck based on dSPACE.The simulation and test results both show that the hybrid sweeper truck can realize functions of sweeper, and also reduce oil consumption together with emissions. Research results of this paper will be applied to actual sweeper, which has great theoretical value and realistic meaning.
