Currently, since the fossil energy is dried up day by day, the development exploitation of renewable energy more and more attention has been paid by people. Including wind power is one of the most potential for development of clean energy. Modern wind power generator systems have two models, for example doubly-fed and direct drive. Direct drive permanent magnet wind generator (DDPMSG) has broad application prospects due to simple structure, reliable operation, and became a research focus of experts and scholars from around the world.The matrix converter (MC) is a high efficiency superior energy converter. As compared with conventional inverter have the following significant advantages:good input-output characteristic, the input power factor can be adjusted, the bidirectional flow of energy, without the DC link, sizes small.This paper first introduces the status and development of wind power (WECS) and the matrix converter situation, and according to the circuit operating characteristics to construct the corresponding theoretical model and control strategy. According to MC topology to establish a corresponding mathematical model and control strategy based on the indirect space vector. Through the mechanical characteristics and the physical structure of the study of permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG), enough to build the schematic, and explains its operation mechanism. On this basis, it is proposed based on the control system of the wind generator matrix converter (MC-DDPMSG). Finally, according to the Matlab simulation software to build wind turbines matrix converter control simulation model, the simulation waveforms obtained under different conditions and waveform transform each waveform harmonic distortion. Prove to can work as usual according to the matrix transformation machine control system of wind power machine to realize the stable operation of the permanent magnet synchronous generator grid. Also show that the matrix converter can be used in the wind power grid correctness and feasibility of this theory to solve power quality problems with the traditional grid. Matrix converter (MC) control system does not have a DC energy storage sectors. It makes its security as a difficulty. In this paper, a new matrix converter control system failure fault-tolerant protection mode. When a fault occurs, the converter switch control or change the structure of the system circuit to circuit energy provide a controlled freewheeling loop. So the system can continue stable operation of secure parking and over current power switch open circuit and short circuit three cases to analyze, and take the appropriate protection strategy.
