With the rapid economic development of Xi’an, a large number of migrant workersswarmed into the city, and the rapid development of tourism, which result in a populationincreasing of the city. Urban public transport demand is extremely urgent, and the urbantraffic becomes congested. In recent years, the public traffic jam phenomenon in Xi’an isfrequent. In order to alleviate this phenomenon, the public transportation department hastried to take various methods to improve that. The first subway of Xi’an, the metro line2traffic has opened in September2011, and metro line1will be officially opened inSeptember2013.This thesis by means of the sampling survey on public transport vehicles of the metroline1and the metro line2corridor of Xi’an, and analyzing its data and concluded that thesubway has no operation effect to conventional buses as now. But with the metro line1, andother metro lines opened in succession, the normal transit will inevitably be affected forbuses. For the public buses, we should carry on the optimization from three aspects. First ofall, research the comfort of buses. Secondly, research the configuration of buses, putforward vehicle configuration optimization methods. Finaly, the application of newtechnologies, and put forward several methods to improve it.With the rapid development of public traffic, and with the coexistence of various trafficmodes in Xi’an, the paper optimizes the configuration of buses, which laid a foundation forenhancing the competitiveness of its traffic.
