The assembly line of heavy-duty commercial vehicle is an effective combination of manand machine, which plays an important role in automobile production. In the productionprocess, improving the balance of the assembly line is a crucial factor in enhancing thecapacity, efficiency and the competitiveness in the industry.The paper firstly detailed analyses the major problem of the assembly line and reasonsfor the formation of the problem respectively from the human, machine, material, rule,environment, measuring six aspects, according to the current assembly situation of theproduct line and the specific arrangement of assembly line post of a certain enterprise. Andthen the balancing scheme for the operation process of heavy-duty commercial vehicleproduction and assembly was designed with the use of the theory and method ofmulti-assembly line balance, combined with the current assembly situation of the existingassembly vehicle models. Finally, normal operation time of the assembly unit is studied in thispaper. The method to reasonability determine the normal operating time for the assemblyunit was proposed according to the analysis of operation process, the research for theoperating method and the division of the assembly unit. The operating time for manualoperating model, man-machine operating model and joint operating model was testedrespectively according to "automobile assembly labor quota time standard", combined withthe stopwatch method, which laid the foundation of the balance research for the product line.The mathematical model of balance for vehicle assembly line was established with theanalysis method of operation process and the119operation process for the assembly line ofthe typical vehicle model was exchanged and transferred with hierarchical position methodthrough a large number of calculations analysis. And then a solution and programs focusingon the mixed vehicle production was provided and its balance was evaluated with the use ofmathematical models function.Through systemic and In-depth researches, the average load rate of assembly line postreaches to84.3%, which is23.8%higher than before and the line balancing factor can reachto19, which is37.18lower compared with before. As a result, the assembly line balance hasbeen significantly improved. The entire production line assembly personnel decreased from 120people to106people, which greatly save the cost of human resources. And the normaloperation time close to the actual assembly time is gained through the test of the operationtime of119assembly operation unit of the typical vehicle model in the enterprise, and thisdate provides a theoretical basis for the enterprise to develop the normal operation time.
