| As a famous scenic area and summer resort, Lushan is one of the famous montainswhich has “city†in the mountain rarely, and Kuling Street is the core of the "City". Duringa100years of transition, Kuling Street has serviced many objects contained fromforeigners, the KMT-CPC dignitaries to the ordinary tourists and Kuling Street residents,It’s a most typical window to show the world about Lushan’s culture landscape. However,as a result of lack of systemic planning and controling, the exploitation of Kuling Streetonly paid attention to economic benefits mostly, but ignored the inheritance andexcavation of traditional culture for many years. street frontage buildings of Kuling Streetare in a state of disorder,especially the quality of historical buildings is worring.After Lushan was enrolled in <World Heritage List> as “World cultural landscapeâ€,in order to protect the cultural landscape of Lushan geographical characteristics muchbetter, Lushan Management Bureau promote tourist industry to a high developmental levelenergetically. From the beginning of2000, Lushan Management Bureau started a series ofspecial protection and renewal aimed at Lushan Kuling Street area, and the Kuling streetfrontage building facade retrofiting project of Lushan have completely finished at2010.For10years, the building styles and street landscapes of Lushan Kuling Street have beengreatly improved.In this study, we take a case of protection and renewal of Lushan Kuling Streetfrontage building as the object of our research. As the foundation of our research, wesummarize domestic and international theories of protection and renewal and discuss thehistory and features of Lushan Kuling Street thoroughly at first, and then analyze theprotection and renewal of Lushan Kuling Street frontage building empirically fromdifferent aspects including background, process, cases analysis and so on about protectionand renewal of street frontage buildings. On the basis of the empirical analysis, we make adetail and in-depth study of the methods and responses of protection and renewal in our case from different aspects such as the update mode, principle, overall architectural style,single building and so on. At last, we use post occupancy evaluation with four implementmethods to assess the whole implementation and deficiency of this case, in order to comeup with valuable suggestion for future research. Through the case research, we hope tofind some universal value methods and perspectives of protection and renewal for scenicspots cultural commercial street in our country. |
