Study On Cost Optimization Of Container Shipping Lines

Each outstanding Chinese enterprise has lower cost advantage than other same type enterprises. But most Chinese Shipping companies have much higher cost than other international shipping lines. In this thesis, we introduced the method of getting lower cost advantage by launching larger-sized vessels, by slow down the vessel sailing speed, by using T/S port and feeder vessel, by cooperation between shipping lines, by choose suitable terminal. and we proved shipping lines can achieve lower cost advantage by taking above suitable measures.Firstly, this thesis discusses the tendency of large-size of ship, demolishes some current ideas about ship large, and presents problems of large-size ship and ways to reach the aim of large-size of ship. Secondly, we introduce the relationship between sailing speed and fuel consumption, and by reducing the speed, make the cost optimization possible. Thirdly, it shows the importance of shipping network optimization and cooperation on shipping lines. Then, it proved the cooperation between lines can reduce the shipping cost. The conclusion summarizes that by implement the messures mentioned, it would effectively reduce the cost and improve the economic benefits.
