With the development of economy and society, highway bears a lot of traffic transport andit has been unable to meet the needs of economic development which is very obvious in thephenomenon of capacity and traffic safety. It is extremely necessary and urgent for thetransformation of the highway widening to ensure traffic safety, reduce traffic accidents andimprove road conditions. In this paper, the whole process of construction drawing design, comparative selection ofroad lines, plane curve design and vertical curve design of roads, pavement structural design andtraffic sign on expressway are focused on.First, according to existing engineering solutions andtechnical standards, the status quo and planning of existing transport networks, forecast of thetraffic development, the scale of engineering construction are further researched. Then ODsurcey is undertaken, previous years traffic volume of highway toll station in Jilin Province areresearched. Finally, based on historical traffic flow and the forecast results of trafficdevelopment, reforming the road by increasing the number of lanes and to determine theincrease in the number of lanes.According to the road network capacity analysis and highway network planning, this papercarried out the modes of local road widening bilateral and unilateral widening way. This paperanalyzed each of the technical points. Based on highway extension project from Changchun toSiping, the field surveys and the interior design of the entire program was analyzedmeticulously. This paper discussed how to make full use of the existing road renovation andexpansion to make it more comfortable, reasonable and safe, providing a reference for thehighway expansion among other existing deficiencies.
