Sustained economic growth and accelerated urbanization prompt the rapidly growing demand of goods transport in China. More and more goods, especially out-of-gauge and overweight goods go back to the railway due to the speed limit of the road transport and load limit, which calls for a higher requirement for safe loading and the transportation quality of railway goods. Out-of-gauge and overweight goods are usually too long or too big, heavy with a high value which makes it a complex task to load and reinforce these goods. Besides, there are many factors affecting the process and some of which cannot be quantized. All of these make the problem more difficult and unstructured. The thesis, based on the extension theory and case-based reasoning technology, explores the semi-structured problem of the loading and reinforcement of out-of-gauge and overweight goods. And the method of extension case-based reasoning method for the Out-of-gauge and overweight goods’loading and reinforcement is adopted, which is of great practical significance to solve the decision of loading and reinforcement and ensures the safety of transportation. The extension case-based reasoning technology of Out-of-gauge and overweight goods’ loading and reinforcement is positive explored in the following aspects:(1) The thesis analyzes the technique conditions of Out-of-gauge and overweight goods’ loading and reinforcement on the railway. The extension theory is employed to design knowledge representation for loading and reinforcement based on extension primitives. Then it analyzes the base data module, parameter and reasoning rules module in depth. And the modularity analysis technical for the case of Out-of-gauge and overweight goods’ loading and reinforcement is introduced.(2) Based on the rhombus thinking, the thesis builds some extension models for extension case-based reasoning of loading and reinforcement like available vehicles and way of loading and so on. Then, the thesis expresses the plan of loading and reinforcement in which the extension primitive as the logic cells, and advocates the construction methods of case library. (3) The thesis studies the key technology of extension case-based reasoning, and introduces the calculation methods for local similarity and global similarity. Besides, it structures a new method named standard deviation of dynamic reallocation to allocate the key attributes of goods’ parameters, then, based on the improved distance, a similarity reasoning algorithm is introduced.(4) The thesis advocates the extension case-based reasoning technology of Out-of-gauge and overweight goods’ loading and reinforcement, designs the evaluation index of the extension case-based reasoning, and constructs a concrete reasoning algorithm case for Out-of-gauge and overweigh goods. Finally, the thesis verifies the effectiveness of the whole reasoning process by the extension case-based reasoning with examples.
