With the development of science and technology, manufacturing industries has a higher request for automation equipment, especially in the car manufacturing industry. The introduction and use of large numbers of automated production lines, not only improve the labour productivity, but also shorten the production cycle; it plays an important role to increase the production of enterprises.Under the engineering background of automobile parts manufacturers’automated production line, on the platform of siemens S7-300series PLC controller, the automobile steering shaft production line control system were designed. This project was Single-station type production line; researches were mainly aimed at the bolt tightening station and cylinder pressure loading station. The main works in this paper are as follow:(1) crafts&equipment:the production process of bolt tightening station and cylinder pressure loading station were analyzed in detail. According to the production process, the overall control scheme was established.(2) hardware design:according to the characteristics of the production line station, ET200S distributed I/O were used to achieve single-station control; using profibus DP fieldbus and industrial Ethernet communications technology to solve the communication problems within the production line; make use of FESTO modular solenoid valve to achieve control cylinder station gas path; utilizing BOSCH CS351tighten control system to solve the bolt tighten problem.(3) software design:Eplan was used to complete the design of electrical drawings; modular programming method was adopted in PLC program design, production process, counting, manual-automatic switching, data storage and exchange, recipes, calibration, alarms, cycle time, tower lights control functions in the control system were realized by using GRAPH, STL, LAD in STEP7;human machine interface was designed by WinCC Flexible for device operation and production monitoring in this project.Currently, the production line control system has passed the functional test and has been put into production operations, brought good economic benefits to enterprise.
