Gearbox is a common component of transmitting power and changing speed inmechanical equipments, widely used in the aerospace industry, wind power, metallurgy,electric power equipment, heavy machinery, transportation machinery, shipbuilding and otherfields. Gearbox has complex structure, poor working conditions, and it is very easy to occur toall kinds of faults, so it has important practical significance to make gearbox fault diagnosisresearch. With the advancement of technology and the development of embedded technology,embedded systems have been widely used in various industries and our lives. Combined theembedded technology with equipment condition monitoring and fault diagnosis technology,researching fault diagnosis system based on embedded technology has become a hotspot incurrent fault diagnosis field.Considering gearbox equipments as research objects, this paper proposes a gearbox faultdiagnosis system based on embedded Linux. In case of fully considering the systemfunctional requirements, making Samsung ARM9chip S3C2440as the core to design thehardware platform, and using embedded Linux operating system to build the softwareplatform. In the development process of fault diagnosis application program, embedding thewavelet threshold, time domain analysis and feature extraction and BP neural networkalgorithm into the fault diagnosis system, and achieving the embedded fault diagnosis ofgearbox.First, this paper introduces the system hardware platform design, with SamsungS3C2440microprocessor as the core of hardware platform, expands the system core circuitryand some peripheral interface circuitry, including the power supply circuit, external expansionmemory circuit, clock and reset circuit, serial circuit, network interface circuit, SD cardinterface circuit, LCD interface circuit, signal conditioning circuit and A/D conversion circuit.Second, this paper conducts embedded Linux system software development, including embedded Linux system software platform building and fault diagnosis application programdesign. Embedded Linux system software platform building mainly makes cross-developmentenvironment building, U-Boot transplantation, kernel configuration, compilation andtransplantation, root file system migration, SD card, A/D and other device drivers writing andtransplantation; fault diagnosis application program design mainly conducts the waveletthreshold, time domain analysis and feature extraction and BP neural network algorithmapplication program design and writing. Finally, making the system test in the laboratoryGearbox experimental platform, collecting gearbox vibration signal in each condition throughthe system data acquisition module and using fault diagnosis application program to processand analyze the collected data. Experimental results show that the system can better achievegearbox fault diagnosis.
