Currently, in the aviation manufacturing of China, due to the prominent featureof the mass production and the complexity of structure designing in aeronauticcomposite parts which lead the production of parts to inefficiency, the parts can beonly made by the production mode of forming mold. Therefore, the design andproduction efficiency of forming mold has become a decisive factor affecting theefficiency in the entire design and production process of aeronautic parts. However,the diversity of aeronautic composite mold parts, the design of some frequently-usedparts is a very time-consuming and repetitive modeling work. Meanwhile, the designprocess of the aeronautic composite mold parts usually contains a lot of professionalknowledge, the professional knowledge of field is long-term accumulation thatexperience of many experts and designer in the design, but the knowledge ofexperience often cannot be inherited and protected in a short period, so knowledgethat forefathers leave is not very good reuse. If we can solve the problem that lowdesign efficiency of aeronautic mold parts, and allowing efficient storage and sharingin expert knowledge and experience in the previous design, this way will greatlyimprove the design efficiency and quality of the entire aeronautic composite parts.According to the needs of aeronautic mold manufacturing enterprises, based onknowledge-based engineering, this paper researches and develops parametric designsystems based on knowledge-based engineering in aeronautic mold parts.According to the classification and characteristics of the aeronautic mold parts,the overall design goals and functional requirements of parametric design based onknowledge-based engineering system are proposed, the knowledge base of theaeronautic mold parts is studied, knowledge acquisition, knowledge representationamd reasoning are completed by UG/KF, the method of knowledge management isintroduced in knowledge base of the aeronautic mold parts, implement methods ofapplication interface of KF,UG and knowledge base. At the same time, the user menu interface and operation interface in parametricdesign of aeronautic mold parts was developed by the secondary development toolson UG, such as UG/Open Menuscript and UG/Open Uistyler. And the parameterpassing methods of menu interface, operation interface and knowledge base arestudied. By means of setting up operating environment of system, designers inputand select the parameter value in operator interface. According to the knowledge incorresponding knowledge base, the system can build parametric model of aeronauticmold parts and complete the overall objectives and functional requirements inparametric design systems based on knowledge-based engineering in aeronauticmold part, which satisfy the rapid design requirements of the aeronautic mold partsand shorten the design cycle.
