As a pressure vessel of energy conversion, industrial boiler emphasizes on safety, reliability, energy saving and environmental protection. It has a series of professional technical requirements for the control system, and the reliability is particularly one of the important indexes. This paper is based on the background of boiler’s renovation project for a factory in Huludao. This factory already had computer control in the past, but it was always manually operated by stoker workers’ experience and it did not have automatic control; At the same time, this system did not have enough safety and reliability measures, so there was dangers of hidden accident; Due to the lag of industrial network’s construction, remote management personnel could not obtain effective information, and it is difficult to realize the remote guidance and optimizing adjustment. In order to solve the above problems, a industrial boiler control and remote supervision system is designed and applied in this factory in2013.The system is designed according to hierarchy. As the control layer, industrial boiler control system is composed of upper and lower machine. In order to realize boiler automation control, PID control algorithm is added. According to the specific process requirements, in order to solve problems of multiple parameter, great inertia and strong coupling, a specific and effective feedforward design can have a good control effect on the water and the negative pressure control loop, etc. In order to improve the system reliability, redundancy technology is added. In the case of satisfying the needs of control, it uses a lower cost PLC300and WinCC software redundancy function to implement the hot standby server. This improves the reliability of the whole control system in a cost-effective way. As the network layer, data transmission is a bridge to link control layer and application layer. This paper compares and analyzes four kinds of data transmission methods, combined with the project’s background, selects the most appropriate data transmission scheme. As the application layer, industrial boiler management system has many functions, such as real-time data, historical data, analysis of energy efficiency and statistics of boiler performance, etc. It is convenient for management personnel to check the condition of boiler operation whenever and wherever, to analyze efficiency and performance of boiler operation, which greatly improvs the remote management level of boiler. In the operation of the entire heating season, the system runs stably and safely, and it reduces stoker workers’manual operation and realizes boiler’s automatic control. The hot standby of redundant server avoids collapse of boiler operation under the condition of server failure, etc, which effectively improvs the safety of boiler running and the reliability of control system. The realization of remote supervision of boiler control makes it easy for management personnel to analyze and guide field work. It achieves the goals of boiler’s supervision in "anytime and anywhere", realizes a phased results of industrial boiler’s integration of management and control.
