The Research Of Location, Planning And Architecture On Community For The Aged

Currently, China has an extremely severe aging tendency which has become a serious social issue. The most significant aspect regarding the issue involves the residence and caretaking of the seniors. One of the solutions to this issue is to construct a high-quality, high-number community of homes for the elderly where seniors are taken care of. Those who are looked after in the community of homes for the elderly are the aged, but the industry is a juvenile one. The theory and practice regarding the issue has become increasingly mature as days go by, whereas the development in China is relatively lagged behind. Therefore, this article primarily focuses on the analysis and research of the cases of senior caretaking and relevant caretaking theories, integrating the circumstances in this nation and a few already built cases to attempt to summarize the problems and solutions which merit attention in the planning and design of the community of homes for the elderly. The thesis is divided into five chapters. In the first chapter, the problem is stated, expounding the background of the research, analyzing the developmental history and constructional situations, and elaborating the relevant theories both home and abroad, as well as stating the research methods and research significance in this thesis. The second chapter summarizes the theoretical foundation for the design of the community of homes for the elderly and senior physiological and psychological characteristics of the elderly. In the third and the fourth chapter, the author implements an analysis of the layout plan of the community of homes of the elderly, the buildings’ functions and the environment, as well as research of the caring space for the elderly and the victims of Alzheimer’s disease. In the fifth chapter, solutions are proposed, primarily through the analysis of practical cases; then apply the results into the projects into the community of the homes for the elderly.
