The analysis and calculation of vessel’s magnetic field is one of the most important technologies for the design of vessel degaussing system or even the entire vessel. With the development of the computer simulation technology, finite element method is being used widely in the analytical calculation of vessel’s magnetic field intensity in recent years. The efficiency of finite element modeling for vessel degaussing depends on the efficiency of geometric modeling, but general geometric modeling software has many disadvantages such as low efficiency of modeling, slow computation speed of the entity model established and bad compatibility with finite element software for computing magnetic field. In order to improve the efficiency of finite element modeling and analysis and reduce the cost of the calculation of vessel’s magnetic field intensity, the vessel’s geometric modeling system for analysis and calculation of magnetic field intensity is urgently needed to be developed. In this paper, vessel’s geometric modeling technology in FEM magnetic field analysis is the main research content. On the basis of the existing research achievement in CAD and the present research situation of related technologies at home and abroad, the geometric modeling technology and related algorithms were systematically analyzed and studied. The relevant software system has also been developed by using the second development technology of AutoCAD and SolidWorks. Finally, a project example proved the correctness and effectiveness of the geometric modeling technology and its software system, which has theoretical significance and practical value in engineering project. The main contents are as follows:(1) Based on the idea of modularization, accomplished the partition of vessel’s structure modules and function modules through the research of vessel structural parts.(2) The automatic 3D-hull-modeling algorithm based on hull lines was studied; the 3D-hull modeling technology was realized through the automatic recognition system of hull lines.(3) Based on the research situation of the algorithm of interference detection and triangulation, according the existing interference problems between the model entities in the process of vessel’s geometric modeling, the algorithm of interference detection and reconstruction between the model entities is proposed and studied.(4) The parameterized part library of vessel’s major structures was accomplished.(5) The vessel’s geometric modeling system in FEM magnetic field analysis was developed and the application of a project example proved the effectiveness of this modeling method and its software system. This paper’s research and application of the developed software have greatly improved the efficiency of finite element modeling and shortened the building period of model by 80%. The calculated result using the model established match well with the experimental result. Therefore it will provide theoretical foundation and numerical references for vessel degaussing.
