Guniujiang Nature Reserve is a national natural conservation area, where the structures of plant community and the wild flower ornamentals are abundant. The species of the wild flower ornamentals in the natural conservation area was investigated and their distribution rule and ecological features were also analyzed in this study. After the initial screening of these wild flower ornamentals using the established evaluation system, the comprehensive evaluation that was made to provide a series of valuable flower ornamentals applied in the garden and greenbelt of Chizhou or other cities at the same latitude by their introduction and cultivation.Through the combination of channel survey and sample plot survey, again combined with the analysis of present information, the article builds up the electronic database for the flower ornamentals. The statistics result declares that there are154families,568genera and1106species seed plants in the reserve, and there are396species flower ornamentals with73families involved, in which herbals account for52.5%, arbors11.1%, shrubs27.8%and genera8.6%. In these wild flower ornamentals, Compositae has the most species while Rosaceae, Liliaceae, Lamiaceae and Leguminosae take the second place. In the view of life form, Rosaceae has the most arbor species, Rosaceae and Leguminosae have the most shrub species, and Compositae has the most herbals,51species. The subtropical and temperate features are remarkable in this area. There are a great deal of peculiar flower species here, such as Monimopetalum chinense, Laplacea leptophylla var. atroviclacea, Primula merrilliana Schltr, Speirantha gardenii (Hook.) Baill, etc., so are the relict species such as Tapiscia sinensis, etc. The research demonstrates that the present396species wild flower ornamentals in the reserve includes44arbor species such as Emmenopterys henryi Oliv.,Magnolia liliiflora Desr., Cronus japonica var.chinensis,etc.,110shrub species such as Rhododendron fortunei, Lyonia ovalifolia var.elliptica, etc.,208herbal species such as Chloranthus spicatus, Gentiana scabra, etc. There are34species suitable for vertical green such as Wisteria sinensis Sweet, etc.,15species suitable for rock green such as Saxifraga stolonifera Curt., etc. and about16species suitable for water surface or waterside green such as Nymphoides indica (L.) O. Kuntze, Geum aleppicum Jacq., etc. The article use the systems analysis approach-Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP for short) as a foundation, which is brought up by the specialist of operational research, SaatyTL, fromUniversity of Pittsburgh, USA., to form a system to develop, use and evaluate the wild ornamental plant resource. The evaluation on the value of developing and using the resource of69species wild flower arbors demonstrates that,19species such as Lespedeza floribunda,Cronus japonica var.chinensis,Emmenopterys henryi Oliv., Nyssa sinensis,Staphyleaceae, etc. have the highest use value,17species such as Rhododendron fortunei,Agapetes lacei Craib, etc. take the second place,24species are average and9species have poor use value. Combined with the reality of Chizhou’s building garden city, the article respectively centers on the shape feature, biological and ecological habitual behaviour, landscape application of20arbor species such as Emmenopterys henryi Oliv. Cronus japonica var.chinensis, Tapiscia sinensis, etc. and20herbaceous flower ornamentals such as Hosta ventricosa (Salisb.) Stearn, Lilium brownii var. viridulum, etc., and on being recommended as introduction and domestication. From the point of the application of landscape, the article choose the ones possible to be applied and popularized in landscape from23plant community systems in the reserve, and set up10representative sampling points and40quadrats to investigate10different vegetative community types. The article respectively analyses the arborescent stratum, the shrub stratum and the field stratum of the10communities from dominance, abundance and frequentness aspects.According to the survey above, combined with the present situation of the local economy and society, the article brings up6principles,9measures and countermoves about sustainable use of the flower ornamentals.
