ObjectiveTo explore the value of the serum tumor markers (AFP-L3, MMP-9, TNF-a, ICAM-1and IL-18) in primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHC);To explore the correla-tion of the Content of CAM-1in the serum and the Content of ICAM-1in PHC tissues; To explore the correlation of the Content of AFP-L3in the serum and the size of PHC.MethodsMicroparticle enzyme immunoassay(MEIA)was used to detect the serum levels of AFP-L3in62patients with PHC,30patients with Hepatitis, and30control subjects; Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) quantitative assay was used to detect the serum levels of IL-18and MMP-9in62patients with PHC,30patients with liver cirrhosis, and30control subjects.Immunohistochemical staining was used to detect the serum levels of ICAM-1in the patients.Results(1) There were significant differences in the levels of ALP-L3, ICAM-1, IL-18and TNF-a between PHC group and Hepatitis group normal control group (P<0.01).There were significant differences in the levels of MMP-9between PHC group and normal control group (P<0.01),There were no significant differences in the levels of MMP-9between PHC group and Hepatitis group (P>0.05).(2) Statistical analysis shows that AFP-L3%, MMP-9, TNF-a, ICAM-1, IL-18, in the serum of62patients with PHC and30healthy controls,had no correlation each other (P>0.05). There is a weak correlation between ICAM-1and IL-18(r=0.362, P=0.049) in30patients with liver cirrhosis, there is a weak correlation between ICAM-1and MMP-9(r=-0.412, P=0.024)in30patients with liver Hepatitis. There is a correlation only between ICAM-1and tumor size.(3) AFP-L3, ICAM-1, MMP-9, TNF-a, IL-18positive rates were79%,82.3%,45.2%,62.9%,83.9%respective in serum of patients with PHC, The accuracy raised to96.8%with combined detection of ALP-L3,ICAM-1,MMP-9.(4) The expression of ICAM-1in metastatic liver cancer tissues was significantly higher than the non-metastatic liver cancer tissue,the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05);There is a high degree of correlation between the levels of ICAM-1 in the PHC patients’serum and the Integration of ICAM-1in in their liver cancer tissue by Immunohistochemical staining (r=0.781, P<0.01).ConclusionThe combination detection for AFP-L3, ICAM-1and MMP-9can improve PHC’s diagnostic positive rate, reduce the rate of misdiagnosis; It is a positive correlation between the levels of ICAM-1in serum of the PHC patients and the Integration of ICAM-1in their liver cancer tissue by Immunohistochemical staining;the Integration of ICAM-1in liver cancer tissue is about HCC metastasis. There is not correlation between AFP-L3in the serum and the size of PHC.
