Comparison Between Chinese And Vietnamese Multiple Adverbial

In modern Chinese and Vietnamese both have the same specific language phenomenon; it is multiple adverbials, one of the most common grammatical structures. This thesis based on research by linguists from China and Vietnam on the order of the multiple adverbial which have applied the comparative analysis theories, the linguistic structuralism, linguistic typologies and cognitive linguistics to conduct comparative research, in order to find out similarities and differences in the basic sequence of the multiple adverbial from Chinese and Vietnamese.Orderly arrangement of Chinese and Vietnamese multiple adverbial is basically not the same:the order of Chinese adverbs is the secondary in precedence over the primary. If analyzed in term of structural form, Chinese adverb tends strongly to show the direction from left to right. According to the layered structure, if analyzed from large to small, multiple adverbial of Chinese language goes towards the left. The multiple adverbial of Vietnamese language, however, is relatively flexible, it can be from the beginning, the middle or at the end of the sentence, but its main order is the primary first then the secondary. If analyzed the structural form, Vietnamese adverb indicates a weak trend in the direction from right to left. According to the layered structure, if analyzed from small to large, multiple adverbial of Vietnamese language goes towards the right.The basic order of the multiple adverbial of the two languages exists in a lot of differences, but the cognitive method of Chinese and Vietnamese on adverbial order is exactly the same:words as close to the head word as stated the nature of the head word, the language component that has more semantic relations with the head word is as close to it, and others which are as far away as the head word indicates the head word’s extensionality. Language components which are not intimately related to the head word are also far away from it. This reflects the mode of cognitive awareness of things from Chinese and Vietnamese are the same.
